Why CMC temporarily shut a Madhapur restaurant during a food safety inspection

HYBERABAD: CMC Food Safety teams conducted an inspection at Chowman in Madhapur on May 25, 2026, as part of ongoing food safety monitoring across Cyberabad.
During the inspection, officials observed certain hygiene practices being followed, including the use of aprons and hairnets by staff. However, the team also identified multiple food safety and storage violations.
Among the issues found were unhygienic meat storage conditions, storage of vegetarian and non-vegetarian items in the same freezer, expired sauces and signs of pest infestation.
Officials immediately initiated corrective measures. Unhygienically stored meat was disposed of and the premises were temporarily closed to facilitate complete cleaning and sanitation.
Corrective measures ordered
The inspection formed part of CMC’s continuing drive to monitor food safety standards in restaurants, kitchens, eateries and other food establishments across Cyberabad.
Officials said regular inspections would continue to ensure compliance with hygiene standards and safeguard public health.
