Fire breaks out in Kukatpally restaurant, no casualties reported

Hyderabad: A fire broke out in the kitchen of Pallavi Restaurant at Vivekanand Colony in Kukatpally, Hyderabad, on Thursday, March 14, 2025, around midnight. No casualties were reported, as the restaurant had only a few customers at the time of the incident.
Authorities believe the fire may have been caused by an LPG leakage. The restaurant staff noticed flames and smoke coming from the kitchen and quickly alerted the fire department and law enforcement. Firefighters were able to contain the fire before it spread further.
Officials praised the swift actions of the restaurant staff and police, which prevented a major disaster. The LPG cylinders stored in the kitchen were quickly moved to a safer location, reducing the risk of explosions. The Kukatpally police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
Previous Fire Incident in Nampally
This incident follows another fire on March 4, 2025, at a mechanic workshop in Nampally. The fire, believed to have been triggered by a short circuit, spread quickly due to the presence of fuel bottles in the workshop. The fire department responded promptly, containing the blaze and preventing a larger disaster.
Tragic Fire in Manikonda Claims Three Lives
On February 28, 2025, a tragic fire in the Puppalaguda area of Manikonda claimed the lives of three people. The fire, caused by a short circuit, started in the parking area of a two-story building, burning two cars and filling the building with thick smoke. The victims, Jameela Khatun (65), Shahana Khatun (30), and Shiraj Khatoon (4), were on the first floor when the smoke engulfed the building. They locked themselves in a room to escape but were overcome by smoke and died from inhalation.
Fire and rescue teams arrived at the scene, but it was too late to save the victims. Regional Fire Officer Jayaprakash confirmed that the cause of death was smoke inhalation and highlighted the dangers of carbon monoxide. He advised people to exit buildings quickly in the event of a fire, and if escape isn’t possible, to move to the top floor and wait for help. He also warned against using elevators during a fire.
