Fire accident at Secunderabad Paradise, hotel to remain closed until further inspection

Hyderabad : The Paradise Hotel in Secunderabad that is known for its Hyderabad biryani is now closed following a minor fire accident in the premises of the Hotel. Secunderabad Fire officials told Hyderabad Mail that the hotel would remain closed until they do a further inspection to give a fire safety nod, which is tentatively scheduled tomorrow, i.e., on Saturday.

According to the Fire Control Room, the fire occurred at around 2:30 pm on Friday. The fire has resulted in the spread of dense smoke, causing panic among the customers and staff alike. Paradise is usually one of the most populated hotels in the city of Hyderabad and one can find customers filled in most of the times.

Short circuit is the cause of the accident

Speaking to the Hyderabad Mail, Md Shabbir Ali, Fire Safety Officer of Secunderabad Fire Station said that the cause of the incident is due to a short circuit in the underground floor of the Hotel building. “There was a wooden dust on the ground and when the short circuit happened, the fire quickly caught up to them and resulted in a huge smoke. With the smoke some of the members at the hotel suffocated, however, no one was injured in this incident.”

The officer further added that there would be another inspection on Saturday and then the permission would be given for the hotel to reopen. “Till then it would remain closed,” said the officer.

The incident has caused widespread panic in the nearby areas. There are several commercial outlets in that vicinity and the Paradise Hotel is situated right in the center of that junction, known for its Hyderabadi dishes. The building not only hosts the restaurant, but it also has a cafe and takeaway sections on the ground floor. Paradise hotel is a major franchise of hotel chains not just limited to Hyderabad but across the country.
