Massive fire in Hyderabad claims one life, injures three
Hyderabad: A fire engulfed a four-storey building in Venkateswara Colony, Jiyaguda, Hyderabad on July 23, Tuesday night, resulting in the tragic death of a 10-year-old girl and severe injuries to three family members.
According to the reports, the ground floor of the building housed a sofa manufacturing warehouse.
The victims have been identified as Srinivas, his wife Nagarani, and their two children, Sivapriya (10) and Harini (6), resided in a room on the same premises. The sofa manufacturing materials stored in their room hindered their escape when the fire broke out.
Local residents rescued 25 people trapped in the blaze. However, the Srinivas family was severely injured before being rescued. Despite immediate medical attention at Osmania General Hospital, young Sivapriya succumbed to her injuries.
Upon learning the incident, firefighters arrived at the spot and brought the fire under control after a considerable effort. The cause of the fire is suspected to be a short circuit.
Police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
It was learned that recently another major fire accident erupted in Hyderabad, this time at the outskirts of Hyderabad near Shadnagar on Friday. A massive fire broke out in a pharma company, Allwyn Pharma located near the city.
Fire Accidents on rise
In recent times, in this summer season, fire accidents have been on the rise. Earlier this week, a fire broke out in a plastic godown in Balapur. Two fire engines were brought in to control the situation. One month ago, there was another major fire accident in an oil godown in Tolichowki near Pista House. The oil spillage has also disturbed traffic and resulted in traffic jams of around four kilometers.
