Victim’s family felicitates Film Nagar SI Srikanth for resolving theft case
Hyderabad: Sub-Inspector Srikanth of the Film Nagar police station was honored by the family of a theft victim for his exceptional work in solving a case of attention diversion theft and returning their stolen valuables.
Speaking with the Hyderabad Mail, SI Srikanth detailed how the theft occurred and how he was able to crack the case. According to Srikanth, the incident involved a woman who, while wearing full jewelry, went to a vegetable market. An unknown individual approached her, expressing concern about her demeanor and claiming she was affected by supernatural issues. Over the course of 15 days, the thief continued to engage the woman in conversation, convincing her that performing rituals at home would resolve her purported problems.
On the day of the theft, the suspect visited the woman’s home, instructing her to place all her jewelry, money, and personal items in a bowl. He then asked her to fetch turmeric water from the kitchen. While she was away, the thief seized the opportunity to escape with the valuables.
Upon receiving the complaint, SI Srikanth and his team launched an investigation. Despite the victim’s inability to recall the suspect’s phone number, the police traced the last call made to the thief, revealing multiple fake contact numbers. After a thorough investigation, they identified three potential addresses. Ultimately, they confirmed the suspect’s location in Dammaiguda.
Srikanth reported that, despite the suspect being a first-time offender, the police managed to apprehend him at his son’s residence. The suspect tried to sell the stolen jewelry, which any buyer had not purchased.
Following the resolution of the case, the victim’s family expressed their profound gratitude to SI Srikanth, celebrating his success in recovering their lost items. Srikanth shared his satisfaction with the positive outcome, stating, “Seeing the happiness on the faces of the victim’s family was incredibly rewarding. Our aim is to serve the public, and although we may not always meet expectations, the joy of solving cases and helping people motivates us.”
Srikanth also discussed the demanding nature of his job, noting, “Despite the hectic workload and various cases we handle, I never get bored. The different challenges keep the work interesting, and the satisfaction of serving people is immense.”
Discussing his experiences, Srikanth highlighted some notable cases, including a double murder and the exploitation of a young boy. He also advised the public, highlighting vigilance to prevent thefts and cybercrimes. He urged individuals to avoid falling for fake job offers and to report any cybercrimes promptly.
In recognition of his efforts, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, West Zone, Hyderabad City, praised SI Srikanth on ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter), stating, “Felicitation of our SI Srikanth of Film Nagar PS by a family of a victim of an attention diversion theft case.
