Hyderabad: A man impersonating a revenue department employee with a fake ID card was apprehended by the police at the Telangana Secretariat on Thursday, January 30, 2025. The incident has raised concerns about security lapses at the Secretariat.

The suspect, identified as Bhaskar Rao from Khammam, posed as a junior assistant in the revenue department. His suspicious movements within the premises led to his identification. Following instructions from the Secretariat’s Chief Security Officer (CSO), Devidas, intelligence agencies were alerted.

Special police force Intelligence ASI Yusuf and head constable Anjaneyelu gathered evidence and detained Bhaskar Rao. Further investigation revealed that Ravi, an official’s driver, had assisted Bhaskar Rao. Ravi has also been taken into custody, and a case has been registered.

The Saifabad police are currently interrogating both Bhaskar Rao and Ravi. Authorities are investigating whether the duo misused the fake ID and if there are any other individuals involved.
