Secunderabad man loses ₹2.47 lakh in fake courier message scam

HYDERABAD: A 36-year-old resident of Secunderabad lost ₹2.47 lakh after falling victim to a fake courier message scam. The message, claiming to be from DTDC Courier, falsely stated that a “second delivery attempt” for a parcel had failed.
Expecting his vehicle’s Registration Certificate (RC), the man clicked on the link provided in the message. Soon after, his phone froze and was flooded with multiple one-time password (OTP) notifications. Within minutes, he received alerts that about ₹2,47,000 had been charged to his credit card.
Realising the fraud, the victim immediately locked his card using the Kotak Mahindra Bank mobile app and contacted the bank’s helpline to block it and lodge a complaint.
