Fake CISF officer dupes women, arrested at Shamshabad airport

HYDERABAD: A man posing as a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officer was arrested at Shamshabad airport after allegedly deceiving multiple people, including several women, by misusing a uniform and false identity.
Officials identified the accused as Balakrishna, a native of Srikakulam. He allegedly claimed to be a CISF personnel and used the identity to gain trust and access in public spaces, including the airport.
According to investigators, Balakrishna allegedly cheated at least 67 women by promising marriage. He reportedly contacted victims through an online matrimony platform, presenting himself as a police officer or CISF official.
Modus operandi involved matrimony platforms and fake identity
Police said the accused created profiles on Matrimony.com and lured women with false claims about his profession. He then built relationships and allegedly extracted money or other benefits under the pretext of marriage.
Officials added that the use of a uniform helped him avoid suspicion and move freely in sensitive areas. Authorities are examining how he procured the CISF attire.
Arrest follows complaints and verification by authorities
The arrest followed multiple complaints and a verification drive by security personnel at Shamshabad airport. Suspicious behaviour and inconsistencies in his claims led to further checks, which exposed the impersonation.
Police have registered a case and are investigating the extent of the fraud, including financial transactions and possible accomplices. Further interrogation is underway.
