Fake appointment letters, websites: Rachakonda police uncovers job scam

LB Nagar: Rachakonda police busted a job fraud racket and arrested three fraudsters who are cheating government job aspirants and siphoning lakhs from them under the pretext of providing government jobs.

In a joint operation the sleuths of Special Operation Team (SOT), LB Nagar Zone along with Pocharam IT Corridor police unveiled a fake job racket. Investigation revealed that the accused were arrested earlier in similar cases for duping job seekers by promising to offer positions in various Government and Public sectors, including the FCI, SBI Bank, Court Outsourcing, AG Office, Post Office, Railway, Income Tax Inspector, GST Office, Revenue Dept., Electricity Dept., and Software Jobs. The accused were identified as Shaik Bade Shaheb alias Munna, Muthoju Laxmana Chary and Madaka Rama Swamy.

On September 4 2024 at 5:40 PM, a complaint was received from Kasarapu Thirupathi. According to the complainant in 2023, his friends Ramchander and Sammaiah visited the complainant to discuss job opportunities for their children. Subsequently, the complainant’s distant relative/accused Madaka Ramaswamy called the complainant, informed him that he had secured a government job for his son and inquired if anyone else was interested in government jobs.

Lakhs siphoned off

“The complainant believed this information and passed it to his friends Ramchander and Sammaiah, who expressed interest in securing jobs for their children. The complainant paid Rs 12,00,000 for securing a job to his daughter while Ramchander and Sammaiah paid Rs 16,00,000 each for securing a job to their children. These payments were made both online and in cash,” said Rachakonda police.

The accused provided fake appointment letters and ID cards, when the complainant and others came to know about the fraudulent act of the accused and questioned them for cheating and demanded to repay the money. The accused promised to return the money and disappeared. Based on which a case was registered at Pocharam IT Corridor Police Station, Rachakonda and investigation is under progress.

Explaining the modus operandi of the accused, Rachakonda police commissioner Sudheer Babu said, “Munna deceived job aspirants by offering non-existent government jobs. He takes on work as a subcontractor for contracting agencies and appoints unemployed people to complete these tasks. He hires unemployed individuals through agents, collecting between 10 to 15 lakhs depending on the person and the position. He creates fake appointment’s orders and makes them attend the data updating work and make them to believe as it is a temporary work before regular appointment. After receiving the initial amount, he sends a fake mail through the mail ID (incometaxservices.govt.in@gmail.com) and created a fraudulent website that falsely indicated job placement”.

The accused were arrested and sent to judicial custody.
