Fact Check: Hyderabad Assault Video Falsely Shared With Communal Angle

Listen to Story
Fact Check: Viral Hyderabad assault video falsely linked to a Love Jihad claim.

Claim

A Muslim man was attacked for being in a relationship with a Hindu girl.

Fact

The viral claim is false. The incident has no communal or religious angle.

We extracted keyframes from the viral video and conducted a Google Reverse Image Search. This led us to several Telugu media reports published in November 2025 that featured screenshots from the same footage.

According to these reports, the video shows an attack that took place near Jagadgirigutta Bus Stop in Hyderabad on November 5, 2025. The victim was identified as Roshan Singh, while the accused was identified as Baleshwar Reddy. Reports stated that the two had a long-standing rivalry and that the attack was linked to a previous dispute. Both individuals reportedly had criminal records.

Police later registered a case under multiple sections after Roshan Singh succumbed to his injuries. The FIR and media reports confirm the identities of those involved.

The available evidence clearly shows that neither the victim nor the accused are Muslims. Therefore, the incident has no religious angle.

The viral video is unrelated to any “Love Jihad” incident. It shows a criminal attack stemming from a personal rivalry, and the communal claim being shared online is false.
