Eye correction surgery helps Sangareddy youth secure Intelligence Bureau job
HYDERABAD: A 22-year-old student from Sangareddy district, whose dream of joining the security services was repeatedly thwarted by poor eyesight, has secured a job as an Assistant Central Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer after undergoing corrective eye surgery sponsored by Helping Hand Foundation (HHF).
Poor eyesight had blocked police recruitment attempts
Dharvath Bhaskar, a student of Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Institutions Society (TGMRIES) and a resident of Naryankhed in Sangareddy district, comes from the family of an agricultural labourer. He was diagnosed with -4.5 myopia, which affected his eligibility for recruitment.
Bhaskar had made several attempts to qualify for police recruitment through state public service examinations and the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), but was disqualified because of his vision.
HHF collaborates with Akbar Eye Hospital
According to HHF, retired IPS officer A.K. Khan approached the foundation seeking assistance for Bhaskar. In collaboration with Akbar Eye Hospital, HHF sponsored a Trans PRK, an advanced corneal laser procedure, to fully correct his vision.
Following the surgery, Bhaskar qualified for selection as an Assistant Central Intelligence Bureau officer with the Intelligence Bureau.
Bhaskar visited the Helping Hand Foundation after receiving his appointment and was welcomed by the HHF team.
