Task force team finds expired products at ‘Lulu’ Hypermarket in Kukatpally

Hyderabad: One of the most hyped markets in the city is Lulu Mall in Kukatpally area. The Hypermarket has become one of the popular go-to places for the city residents. The city’s Commissioner of Food Safety in Telangana wing has focused on this place in its recent inspection on Wednesday in the city of Hyderabad. To the surprise of many, even this place is not exempt from selling expired products and the presence of unhygienic conditions.
In a statement through X, Commissioner of Food Safety in Telangana said that “The Task Force team conducted inspections in the Kukatpally area on 26.06.2024.”
Further it has listed out the violations found in the 𝗟𝘂𝗹𝘂 𝗛𝘆𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁, 𝗞𝘂𝗸𝗮𝘁𝗽𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆. The post read, “Infested items like Atta Bread Mix (10kg) loose Baguette Bread Mix (15kg) in the bakery unit was found and discarded. Expired and beyond Use-by-date food articles like Sesame Seeds (20kg), Toned Milk (20L), Biscuit packets, Glaze (7.5kg), Gems (5kg), Fruit Juice (2pkts) were found and discarded. Updated FSSAI licence copy was not displayed at the entrance of the premises.”

However, it also added that some of the rules regarding workers were being followed diligently only. “Workers in the food section were found wearing hair caps, gloves, masks and uniforms. 40 FoSTaC trained supervisors were available at the said premises,” read the post.
Houseflies in meat storage unit
Meanwhile, the meat storage was allegedly seen in unhygienic conditions as there was the presence of houseflies in the meat storage unit. “Houseflies were found hovering near meat storage. Pest control records, Medical Fitness Certificates of food handlers were available.”
Further added that notice would be served and action would be taken accordingly.
Lulu is one of the popular malls, which first began in Bengaluru. It also has branches across India, in locations, such as Lucknow, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Palakkad among others.
