Excise STF seizes ₹2.5 lakh jaggery near Devarakonda

HYDERABAD: The Excise Special Task Force (STF) B Team intercepted a van transporting 2,250 kg of jaggery and 250 kg of alum from Hyderabad towards the Devarakonda area for alleged use in making illicit liquor.

STF B Team sub-inspector Balaraju and his staff intercepted the vehicle and seized the jaggery and alum. Officials estimated the value of the seized material at ₹2.50 lakh.
The team also seized the vehicle and registered a case against two people.
Two accused had faced similar cases earlier
The accused were identified as Angothu Tarun and Pathlavath Lal Krishna, both from the Devarakonda area.
According to the press note, the two had previously been accused in several cases involving transportation of jaggery and had also faced fines. They were caught again while allegedly transporting the material.
