Woman attacked during Ameerpet property dispute; ex-mayor’s kin booked

HYDERABAD: Former Hyderabad mayor Bonthu Rammohan Rao’s mother-in-law, Sridevi, was booked by police on Thursday after she allegedly assaulted a woman during a dispute over a leased property in Ameerpet.
According to the complaint filed by a couple operating a hostel in the building, they had taken the property on lease from Sridevi and invested nearly ₹2 crore after securing private loans to run the business.
The couple alleged that they had been facing threats from the former mayor’s family for the past two years over the property dispute.
On Thursday, Sridevi allegedly entered the building along with around 30 people and demanded that the couple vacate the premises immediately. The complainants alleged that she assaulted the woman during the confrontation.
