Eight devotees from Hyderabad, not Andhra, killed while returning from Mahakumbh mela

Hyderabad: Eight devotees returning home from Mahakumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj, were killed in a road accident in Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday morning.
The accident occurred when the mini-bus in which they were travelling collided with a truck near Sihora in Jabalpur district. Due to the high-impact collision, seven devotees died on the spot while another person succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at a hospital.
According to Jabalpur Collector Deepak Kumar Saxena, the incident took place at around 8.30 am near Sihora town. The truck laden with cement bags was heading on the highway from the side of the road at the time of accident.
Initial reports suggested that the devotees belonged to Andhra Pradesh due to the registration number of the vehicle. However, an initial inquiry by the authorities into the horrific incident revealed the passengers belong to Nacharam locality of Hyderabad.
Only six deceased were identified including Balakrishna, Santosh, Srikanth, Ravi and Anand. The residents of Nacharam had gone to Prayagraj to take a holy dip in the Triveni Sangam and were returning home after the rituals.
Upon learning the incident, chief minister Revanth Reddy expressed grief over the death of eight persons from Hyderabad in the road mishap.
