Ed Raids Gudem Mahipal Reddy. Illegal Mining case

Hyderabad: With the break of dawn the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids against Patancheru Bharat Rashtra Samithi(BRS) Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Gudem Mahipal Reddy and his brother Gudem Madhusudhan Reddy in connection with the illegal mining business on Thursday. The agency reportedly conducted the raids at more than eight locations including the offices of Santosh Granites and or associated firms, as well as properties of alleged benamis of the accused.

It is pertinent to note that in the month of March, Cyberabad police arrested Gudem Madhusudhan Reddy for alleged illegal mining activities conducted through his firms.

Going further into the details, After allegations of illegal mining surfaced over Madhusudhan Reddy, Sangareddy Collector Valluru Kranthi ordered an inquiry by a task force committee under the chairmanship of Sangareddy RDO Ravindar Reddy. Subsequently Ravindar Redd lodged a formal complaint with Patancheru police of Cyberabad police. Based on which, Gudem Madhusudhan Reddy was arrested.

ED jumped into action after case filed by Cyberabad police

The law enforcement agency, ED, jumped into action after the case filed by the Patancheru police against Madhusudhan Reddy. Following the emergence of the money laundering angle, the premier anti-money laundering agency launched an investigation under Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

Gudem Madhusudhan Reddy was arrested by local police for alleged illegal mining activities conducted through his firm Santosh Granite Mining. The firm allegedly violated central environmental norms and unauthorized excavation beyond the permitted limits. Authorities also accused Reddy of continuing mining operations even after the expiration of the relevant permits.

Gudem Madhusudhan Reddy is the brother of Gudem Mahipal Reddy who was MLA from Patancheru in 2014 and 2018. In the recently concluded elevation, 2023, Gudem Mahipal Reddy from Bharat Rashtra Samithi contested as BRS candidate from Patancheru assembly constituency during the state general election 2023. He secured 105387 and won from the constituency with a margin of 7091.
