HMDA to open new eco park in Kothwalguda to public soon

Hyderabad: Ranga Reddy district will add another urban park to its growing ecosystem as Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) is gearing up to inaugurate an Eco Park in Kothwalguda.
One of the defining features of this eco-park is its walk-through aviary, which is touted to be one of the world’s largest aviaries. The park is spread across a total area of 125 acres and it is constructed on two land parcels separated by the Outer Ring Road (ORR). The eco-park will house India’s largest aquarium as well.
The aviary has been developed in 5.5 acres of land in the park. It has been equipped with state-of-the-art facilities that will provide a habitat to 5,000 birds of dozens of different species including Blue and Gold Macaw, Green Wing Macaw, Scarlet Macaw, Cockatoos, Amazon Parrots, Eclectus Parrots, Conures, Pheasants, Cockatiels, Budgies, Doves, Finches, Rainbow Lorikeets, Turaco, Quaker Parakeets, Mandarin Ducks, Toucans, African Grey Parrots and Grass Parakeets. The world class aviary will provide an opportunity for visitors to catch the exotic birds sourced from various countries.
The facility boasts of terrace gardens, a pond, pergolas, tunnel aquarium, landscaping, butterfly park, viewing points, boardwalk of around 2.5 km, adventure zone and aqua marine park. The acqua marine park, developed on a design, build, finance, operate and transfer (DBFOT) basis, is expected to accommodate 2,500 visitors who will be able to observe aquatic environment and marine life up close.

The eco park is also equipped with an open air theatre that can accommodate up to 1,200 people. This amphitheatre will serve as a platform for various open-air performances, cultural events, and public gatherings. For the convenience of visitors, food courts have been arranged where people can taste different local and regional cuisines. The aesthetics of the park is visible in its landscaping with a variety of trees, shrubs, and flowering plants.
