Electoral Officer

HYDERABAD: The Election Commission of India has revised the schedule for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 in Telangana, extending the period for filing claims and objections from September 16 to October 7.

The revised schedule also extends the notice phase and disposal of claims and objections to November 5. The final publication of the electoral roll will now be on November 9 instead of October 19.

The revised schedule was issued by the Chief Electoral Officer, Telangana.

Revised schedule gives electors more time to file claims

As per the revised schedule, the period for filing claims and objections will remain from August 17 to October 7. The notice phase and disposal of claims and objections will run from August 17 to November 5.

The final publication, earlier scheduled for October 19, will now take place on November 9.

CEO directs officials to ensure timely notice delivery

Against the backdrop of the extended schedule, Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudharsan Reddy on Monday reviewed the progress of SIR-2026 with election officials and directed them to ensure timely delivery of notices and clearance of pending cases.

Reddy, along with Additional Chief Electoral Officer Vasam Venkateswar Reddy, IAS, and Deputy Chief Electoral Officer G.S. Chary, held a video conference with the Commissioner, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and District Election Officer (DEO), Hyderabad, and all DEOs and Electoral Registration Officers (EROs).

Reddy reviewed the progress of notice delivery, hearing schedules and pending cases in ERO and DEO logins.

He instructed Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to deliver every notice in person to the concerned elector. In urban areas, BLOs were asked to seek the assistance of Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to locate elector addresses.

Officials were also directed to use the additional logins provided to districts to clear pending cases on time.

Reddy instructed officials to share un-mapping and anomaly case lists with political parties during meetings with them. BLAs should also be encouraged to actively participate during the claims and objections period.

Supervisors asked to assist elderly and PwD electors

The CEO directed BLOs, BLO Supervisors and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) to ensure proper uploading of documents in accordance with Election Commission of India guidelines.

He said computer operators should exercise care while uploading documents and directed EROs and AEROs to take responsibility for errors committed by computer operators working under their supervision.

Supervisors were instructed to visit the residences of elderly persons and persons with disabilities (PwDs) in areas where hearing locations had not been covered.

Help desks at the ERO and DEO levels have also been made operational to assist electors during the revision process.

Nodal officers and the project manager for information technology (PM-IT) also attended the video conference.
