Eagle Force Busts Interstate Alprazolam Network, 15 Held In Telangana

HYDERABAD: Telangana Police’s EAGLE Force, along with police from Nizamabad, Kamareddy and Siddipet, has busted an interstate Alprazolam network operating across Telangana, Maharashtra and Karnataka.

Police arrested 15 accused and seized 32.5 kg of Alprazolam, a psychotropic substance, during the operation.

Illegal manufacturing unit unearthed, ₹12 lakh seized

Police also uncovered an illegal manufacturing unit linked to the network. They seized 30 kg of Alprazolam and ₹12 lakh in cash from the facility.

The authorities also forfeited drug-linked assets worth around ₹6 crore under Section 68(F) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, the agency said.

Anti-adulteration drive reaches 500-plus villages

The crackdown also targeted the alleged use of Alprazolam to adulterate toddy. Police said the practice affected several consumers, with 83 people receiving treatment.

As part of its enforcement and awareness campaign, the EAGLE Force conducted programmes in more than 500 villages.

The EAGLE Force, or Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement, is a specialised Telangana Police unit that tackles drug trafficking, investigates drug-related offences and conducts anti-drug awareness programmes.
