Dundigal police crack PG hostel laptop thefts

HYDERABAD: Police have cracked a series of laptop thefts targeting paying guest hostels in Bahadurpally under the Dundigal police station limits, Inspector Satish said.
According to police, a burglary was reported at a PG hostel in Bahadurpally in the early hours of January 24, during which two laptops were stolen. Two days later, in the early hours of January 26, another PG hostel in the same area was targeted, with laptops stolen from multiple rooms.
Cases were registered at Dundigal police station and an investigation was launched. As part of the probe, the Dundigal police station crime team detained a man found moving suspiciously near Bahadurpally X-road around 7 pm on Tuesday. During questioning, he confessed to the thefts, police said.
Two laptops were recovered from the accused, while five more were seized from the receiver. Police arrested Ganganamoni Anvesh Kumar, 20, as the main accused, and Mayur Ashok Mevada, 46, as the receiver. The total value of the recovered laptops is estimated at ₹3.50 lakh, the inspector added.
