Hyderabad: Three individuals were arrested for drunk driving in the Film Nagar area on Monday, April 1, 2025.

The incident occurred on March 28, 2025, when the accused, identified as 28-year-old B Raj Kiran, 21-year-old B Mallikarjun, and 24-year-old K Snehit, were involved in a car crash that damaged several vehicles.

Raj Kiran, the driver of the car, collided with parked vehicles, damaging a motorcycle owned by Hasmathullah Khan, who filed a complaint leading to the arrests. The Filmnagar police have registered a case for rash and negligent driving.

This arrest follows a special enforcement drive conducted by Cyberabad Traffic Police over the weekend of March 29, 2025, aimed at curbing drunk driving. A total of 222 offenders were apprehended during the operation.

Authorities seized 163 two-wheelers, 9 three-wheelers, 48 four-wheelers, and 2 heavy vehicles. Among the offenders, 13 individuals had blood alcohol concentrations (BAC) between 200 mg/100 ml and 500 mg/100 ml, while 5 had BAC levels exceeding 500 mg/100 ml.

All arrested individuals will be presented before the court for further legal action. The police have reiterated their commitment to strict enforcement against drunk driving and warned that those involved in fatal accidents under the influence of alcohol could face severe legal consequences.

Under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, individuals responsible for fatal accidents caused by drunk driving could be charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The penalties for this offense include up to 10 years in prison and a fine.

Authorities continue to urge the public to avoid driving under the influence to ensure road safety and prevent accidents.
