Medchal Excise team intercepts Ganja consignment in Suchitra, arrest two
Hyderabad: Medchal Excise and Enforcement officials busted a drug trafficking racket and seized nearly 9 kg of ganja destined for Hyderabad’s illicit market.
The Medchal AES Madhavaya, along with the District Task Force(DTF) conducted a raid on Friday, intercepting a significant drug shipment from Machilipatnam to Hyderabad. The operation resulted in the seizure of 8.749 kg of ganja, valued at Rs. 2.50 lakhs.
Two primary suspects, Balagam Nagaraju and Anvesh from Machilipatnam, were arrested during the operation. They had originally purchased the ganja at Rs. 2,000 per kg, planning to sell it to a Hyderabad-based buyer named Rafi at Rs. 16,000 per kg.
Two arrested drug trafficking case
The drug trafficking plan involved a pre-arranged meeting at Suchitra. Before the final exchange could take place, DTF officials led by Pavan Kumar intercepted the suspects.
Excise officials revealed that the arrested individuals have a substantial criminal history, with ten previous cases registered against them in Machilipatnam. Two mobile phones were seized during the raid as evidence.
Excise Enforcement Director VV Kamalasan Reddy and Medical Excise Superintendent Fayazuddin commended the team for their successful intervention.
