Crystal meth worth ₹11.4 crore seized at Secunderabad station; two women held

HYDERABAD: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Hyderabad Zonal Unit, seized 11.4 kg of amphetamine, commonly known as crystal meth, valued at ₹11.4 crore at Secunderabad Railway Station on April 27, 2026. Two women were arrested in the operation.
Acting on specific intelligence, DRI officers intercepted the two Indian nationals travelling by train. A detailed examination of their trolley bags led to the recovery of 10 plastic packets containing a white crystalline substance.
Contraband hidden inside bedsheets to evade checks
Officials said the packets were concealed using multiple layers. The substance was wrapped in black polythene, covered with designer paper and hidden within bedsheets placed inside the bags to avoid detection.
A field drug detection test confirmed the substance as amphetamine. The total quantity seized was 11,400 grams.
Case registered under NDPS Act; further probe on
The contraband was seized under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Both accused were arrested under relevant provisions of the law.
Officials said further investigation is underway to identify the source and intended recipients of the drugs. The agency said the seizure has disrupted organised trafficking networks and prevented the narcotics from reaching consumers, particularly youth.
The DRI reiterated its commitment to tackling drug trafficking and safeguarding public health.
