Doctor At Omega Hospital, Namratha Chigurupati, Caught Buying Cocaine In Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A 34-year-old doctor, Namratha Chigurupati, was arrested in Hyderabad for purchasing cocaine from a drug supplier based in Mumbai.

Namratha, the CEO of Omega Hospital, was caught by the Rayadurg police on Thursday around 5:20 PM while receiving a delivery of 53 grams of cocaine.

According to the reports, the delivery was arranged by Vansh Thakkar, a known drug smuggler from Mumbai, with Balakrishna, 38, being dispatched to Hyderabad to deliver the drugs.

Namratha had transferred ₹5 lakh online to Vansh Thakkar for the cocaine. The Rayadurg police acted on reliable information and apprehended her when she arrived to collect the drugs.

During the arrest, the police seized 53 grams of cocaine, ₹10,000 in cash, and two mobile phones from the accused. Preliminary investigations revealed that Namratha had spent ₹70 lakh on drugs over the past four years, a habit that reportedly began after her divorce.

The police have stated that the investigation into the cocaine supply chain from Mumbai will continue. Namratha and Balakrishna have both been taken into remand. Authorities also suggested that Namratha may require counseling to address her addiction.
