Dhoolpet ganja bust: 30.1 kg seized, five arrested

HYDERABAD: The Telangana State Excise Task Force on Thursday seized 30.15 kg of ganja in Dhoolpet and arrested five people. Officials also seized three two-wheelers and six mobile phones.
Search at Shivalal Nagar
Acting on specific information, Task Force A-Team personnel, along with Dhoolpet police station staff, conducted searches at a house belonging to Sainath Singh in Shivalal Nagar. Five accused were taken into custody and questioned. Officials recovered 16 packets of ganja weighing 30.15 kg, six mobile phones and three two-wheelers.
Jail links and supply trail
During follow-up inquiry, officials said Nandi Singh and Sainath Singh, earlier arrested in a ganja case in Dhoolpet, met Hari Krishna of Yadagirigutta while lodged at Chanchalguda Jail. Hari Krishna had been arrested by IS Sadan police station while allegedly transporting 45 kg of ganja in a car. They exchanged mobile numbers.
Later, Charan of Burusai village in Gajapati district of Odisha, remanded in a theft case, also came into contact with Hari Krishna in the jail. After their release, the accused continued to communicate using Instagram accounts.
Officials said Hari Krishna was released in the first week of December 2025 and remained in touch with Nandi Singh. He visited Dhoolpet during Sankranti after being invited.
Sales network
Investigators said Nandi Singh, his wife Shilpa and Sainath Singh asked Hari Krishna to procure ganja, offering higher rates and claiming a network of peddlers. Hari Krishna contacted Charan and struck a deal at ₹15,000 per kg.
Charan, along with Israel his former roommate in Moosapet had earlier sent ganja to Hyderabad on two occasions. Hari Krishna and Israel allegedly transported ganja from Odisha to Sainath Singh’s house. From there, Sunil Singh alias Bakri Sunil of Gangabowli and his aide Manav Singh collected the contraband.
Officials said Bakri Sunil sold bulk quantities to an associate, Rajababu, and the remainder was packed into sachets and sold through peddlers at a paan shop in Jiyaguda and at Jummerat Bazaar with the help of Manav Singh and Durgesh Singh. Sunil had initially sourced ganja through Sheetal Singh about 15 days earlier. He faces over ten ganja cases, officials added.

Seven others Charan (Odisha), Rajababu Singh, Nandi Singh, Shilpa Singh, Nandini, Durgesh Singh and Sheetal Singh are absconding. Special teams have been formed to trace them.
The operation was carried out on the directions of Shahnawaz Qasim, with Excise Superintendent Nandyala Anji Reddy overseeing the action. CI officers M P R Chandrasekhar and G Gopal, SI officers Bharat, Vishnu and Saidulu, and staff participated.
