MANIKONDA: Family awaits news after contact lost following flash floods
Manikonda resident Rallagudem Dhanpal Reddy, a devotee of Lord Shiva, has gone missing during a pilgrimage to Mansarovar following flash floods in the region.
Reddy, who has tattoos depicting Lord Shiva on his back, shoulders and arms, travelled to Mansarovar on a spiritual trip. He left Pune on August 23 with 66 people under the aegis of Hills and Travels. Most of the travellers were from Pune, while a few were from Hyderabad.
Last contact came from Tibet immigration centre
On August 26, at around 8.30am, Reddy informed his family that the group had reached an immigration centre in Tibet and would proceed after completing the formalities.
A flash flood occurred the same day. Reddy’s phone has remained switched off since then, his father, Narsimhareddy, said.
Narsimhareddy said officials at the embassy told the family that they could send DNA samples of family members so that authorities could check records and help establish Reddy’s identity.
Reddy’s wife, an eighth-class student son and a seventh-class student daughter are waiting for news about him.
