Secunderabad GRP Seizes ₹1.20 Crore on Devagiri Express

SECUNDERABAD: Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel seized ₹1,20,70,000 from a passenger travelling on the Devagiri Express and detained him during inspections at Malkajgiri railway station on Tuesday.

Police said the operation was carried out following credible information about illegal transportation of cash on the train. GRP teams conducted checks on passengers and luggage after the train arrived at the station.
During the inspection, officers identified a man carrying a large amount of cash packed in bags. Preliminary inquiry revealed that the money was being transported from Mumbai to Hyderabad.
Documents under verification
Police took the man into custody and shifted him for questioning. Officials said they are verifying the documents related to the cash movement and examining whether the amount was being transported legally.
GRP officials are also trying to ascertain the source of the money and its intended use. Further investigation is underway.
