Deputy executive engineer held by ACB for accepting ₹6,000 bribe at OU

HYDERABAD: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on December 16, 2025 caught a deputy executive engineer of Osmania University red-handed for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹11,000 for clearing pending bills and facilitating future contract works.

The accused officer was identified as Rakenda Srinivasulu, deputy executive engineer, Osmania University Building Division, Osmania University campus, Tarnaka. He was trapped by ACB officials of the City Range Unit at the office of the executive engineer, Buildings Division, Osmania University.

Bribe allegedly demanded for bill clearance

According to the ACB, the officer demanded ₹11,000 from a contractor for releasing bills amounting to ₹7,37,034 related to renovation works executed at Manera Boys Hostel on the Osmania University campus. The bribe was also allegedly sought to avoid creating obstacles in future contract works at the university.

ACB officials said the officer accepted ₹6,000 as part payment during the trap. An earlier amount of ₹5,000 had allegedly been accepted through a phone-based transaction.

Accused produced before special court

The ACB stated that the bribe amount was recovered from the possession of the accused at his instance. The officer was arrested and produced before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally.

The case is under investigation. The identity of the complainant has been withheld for security reasons.

In a public advisory, the ACB urged citizens to report demands for bribes by public servants by calling the toll-free number 1064. The bureau can also be contacted through WhatsApp at 94404 41064 and its official social media platforms. The ACB said the identity of complainants would be kept confidential.
