Dengue scare: Telangana health officials visit Osmania General Hospital
Hyderabad: Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad (TVVP) team visited Osmania General Hospital (OGH) on Tuesday to check whether adequate medical services were being provided to the patients in view of the rising seasonal diseases in Hyderabad.
The surprise visit was led by Ajaya Kumar, Commissioner, TVVP and he was accompanied by Hyderabad’s District Medical Health Officer (DMHO) Dr J Venkati and TVVP Executive Officer T Srinivas. The medical team interacted with the hospital superintendent Dr Rakesh Sahay and RMO Dr CS Jayakrishna.
The TVVP team members expressed their satisfaction with the hospital’s preparedness following their inspection of several medical services which include the Out-patient (OP) and In-patient (IP) services, blood bank, laboratories, hospital beds, water and electricity supply system.
Subsequently, the visiting medical team gave a press briefing. DMHO Dr Venkat told reporters that due to the proactive steps taken by the health department, 50 percent less dengue cases were reported in September 2024 compared to the 920 cases recorded during the same period last year. He said 1,222 cases were reported in the same month in 2022.
Later, Dr Ajaya Kumar said the hospital receives about 400 to 500 out-patients daily, however, only 100 of them complain of fever. Of them, 10 to 15 cases require admission in the hospital while five to six show dengue symptoms and neither of them are in severe condition.
