Delhi Capitals Defeat Sunrisers Hyderabad By Seven Wickets
Hyderabad: Delhi Capitals delivered a commanding performance to secure a seven-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
Chasing a target of 164, Delhi Capitals got off to an explosive start, led by Faf du Plessis, who anchored the innings with a fluent knock. The top order contributed steadily, while Abhishek Porel and Tristan Stubbs steered the team to victory with a composed finish. KL Rahul, making his debut for DC, played a quick-fire cameo, scoring 15 off just five balls in an attempt to finish the chase in style.
Earlier, Sunrisers Hyderabad found themselves struggling against a disciplined Delhi bowling attack. Opting to bat first after winning the toss, SRH lost early wickets in the powerplay, putting them on the back foot. Mitchell Starc was the standout bowler for Delhi, claiming a remarkable five-wicket haul, while Kuldeep Yadav provided crucial support with three wickets. Despite a resilient partnership between Aniket Verma and Heinrich Klaasen, Sunrisers failed to post a formidable total.
On the bowling front for SRH, debutant Zeeshan Ansari impressed with a three-wicket haul, briefly reviving his team’s hopes. However, his efforts were not enough to contain the aggressive DC batting lineup, which comfortably chased down the target to seal a comprehensive win.
With this victory, Delhi Capitals have made a strong statement in the tournament, showcasing their dominance with both bat and ball.
