TELANGANA: A deer was killed after a gelatin stick exploded in forest limits of Rangareddy district, Telangana, forest officials said.

Gelatin sticks suspected for wild boar hunting

The incident occurred in the forests near Boyinagutta Thanda in Charikonda gram panchayat limits of Kadthal mandal, within the Mudwin Reserve Forest area.

Locals suspect unidentified persons had planted gelatin sticks to hunt wild boars. The deer is believed to have accidentally tried to bite the explosive, triggering the blast and killing it on the spot.

Post-mortem conducted, case registered

Villagers alerted forest officials, following which Forest Range Officer Hussain visited the spot and conducted a preliminary inspection. The carcass was shifted to the Kadthal veterinary hospital, where a post-mortem examination was carried out.

Forest Range Officer Hussain said a case has been registered and an inquiry is underway to identify those responsible for the incident.
