DCA busts illegal sale of habit-forming drugs in Charminar
Hyderabad/Charminar: Continuing its enforcement against illegal sale of drugs, Drugs Control Administration(DCA) busted the illegal sale of habit-forming drugs to drug addicts at Charminar on Wednesday.
With a tip off, DCA officials of Hyderabad zone conducted raids on Wednesday in Charminar area, along with officials from the police department and busted the illegal sale of addictive substances to drug addicts. During the raids against Arshad Khan in Aman Nagar at Yakutpura, Hyderabad, the officers detected that Khan was illegally selling Tydol 100 tablets (Tapentadol Tablets 100 mg) at the Charminar bus stand parking area, New Shalibanda Road.
Tapentadol is a centrally acting opioid analgesic used for the management of pain. It works by acting on the opioid receptors in the brain and spinal cord, thereby altering the way the body perceives and responds to pain.
Further analysis revealed that “Tapentadol has been classified as a Schedule H1 drug under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. Schedule H1 drugs are those that have a high potential for abuse or indiscriminate use and are subject to stricter regulations regarding their sale. The inclusion of ‘Tapentadol’ in Schedule H1 means that it can only be sold by retail pharmacies with a prescription from a registered medical practitioner,” said DCA officials in a press statement.
The sale of Schedule H1 drugs is restricted
