Damodar Raja Narasimha strongly counters KTR

HYDERABAD: Telangana Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha refutes KTR’s claims of a severe medicine shortage in government hospitals. Earlier Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) made allegations on Revanth Reddy led Telangana Government in his X handle. These allegations were made citing a media report from Namaste Telangana news paper on Friday. KTR further said that the situation in government hospitals has deteriorated so much that basic medicines are unavailable.

“KCR’s government laid the foundation for government hospitals during its ten-year rule,” KTR said. “The BRS government brought the situation from the misery of decades of ‘I don’t want to go to the government hospital’ to ‘let’s go to the government hospital’. But, in just six months, the Revanth sarkar has brought them down to the point that medicines are unavailable. People’s lives are in the air!”

Health Minister responds to allegations

Damodar Raja Narasimha dismissed the allegations as baseless. He described the Namaste Telangana report as unfounded and accused the media house of being owned by the BRS party.

“There is no shortage of medicines in government hospitals,” Narasimha asserted. He accused the BRS of neglecting public health by failing to pay Rs 250 crores in dues to drug suppliers since 2022.

“We are working towards fully cleaning up public health and providing health security to the poor,” Narasimha stated. He criticized the previous BRS government for not improving public health in Telangana, accusing them of merely building bungalows without addressing crucial health issues.

KTR took to Twitter to emphasize his allegations, writing, “In ten years of governance, KCR’s government revitalized public healthcare. The BRS government transformed the decade-long despair of ‘I don’t want to go to the government hospital’ into the confidence of ‘let’s go to the government hospital’. However, in just six months, the Revanth sarkar has brought government hospitals to a state where even basic medicines are unavailable. People’s lives are in jeopardy under Congress rule!”

Minister Narasimha countered on social media, labeling the news as “baseless”. He stated, “There is no shortage of medicines in state hospitals. The previous government’s unpaid dues of Rs 250 crores to drug suppliers from 2022 have caused issues. We are committed to overhauling public health and providing health security to the poor.”

Narasimha further accused the BRS of failing to take significant steps to improve healthcare during their decade-long rule, focusing instead on building personal assets rather than addressing the staffing and infrastructure needs of government hospitals.
