HYDERABAD: A Nampally criminal court on Friday granted another opportunity to members of the Daggubati family to appear in person in connection with the alleged illegal demolition of Deccan Kitchen hotel in Film Nagar.

Actors Daggubati Venkatesh and Daggubati Rana, along with producers Suresh Babu and Abhiram Daggubati, failed to appear before the court on Friday despite earlier directions mandating their personal presence for submission of personal bonds.

Taking note of their absence, the court granted them one more chance and directed them to appear in person on January 23.

The case arises from a complaint filed by hotel owner Nanda Kumar, who alleged that his hotel was illegally and partially demolished on November 13, 2022, by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), along with members of the Daggubati family and private bouncers.

He further alleged that equipment and materials worth several crores were stolen during the demolition. Nanda Kumar approached the Nampally court in January 2024, following which the court conducted a preliminary inquiry and ordered registration of a case against the accused.

Despite the pending proceedings, the complainant alleged that the hotel was again razed in January 2024 using private security personnel.
