PDS rice smuggling: Cyberabad SOT arrests four gangs
HYDERABAD: Cyberabad SOT team along with the Shamshabad, Rajendranagar, and Shadnagar police have jointly caught 4 gangs smuggling PDS rice in the Cyberabad Commissionerate.
Details of Public Distribution System (PDS) rice cases
Police have arrested eight members and, seized 54 tons of PDS rice and four vehicles from them. And police also seized total assets of value 48.8 lakhs. Of which ₹ 10.8 lakhs belongs to PDS rice (20 rupees per KG), the remaining ₹ 38 lakhs belongs to vehicles. Seized vehicles are one lorry, two DCM trucks, and, one two-wheeler vehicle.
PDS case-1
SOT Shamshabad team and Shadnagar Police have arrested one accused and seized 26.2 tons of Public Distribution System rice valued at ₹ 5.2 lakhs and one lorry valued at ₹ 20 lakhs. Shadnagar police are investigating this case.
Case-2
One accused was arrested in this case and police seized 9.25 tons of PDS rice valued at ₹ 1.85 lakhs and one DCM truck valued at ₹ 7.5 lakhs. Shamshabad police are investigating this case.
Case-3
Police seized one ton of PDS rice in the godown valued at ₹ 2 lakhs. Police have arrested one accused in this case. This case is handed over to the Pahadi Shareef Police Station.
Case-4
Rajendranagar SOT team and Rajendranagar police have arrested five accused and seized 17.58 tons of Public Distribution System rice valued at ₹ 3.5 lakhs. They seized one DCM truck worth ₹ 10 lakhs and a two-wheeler vehicle worth ₹ 50 thousand from the accused. Rajendranagar Police are investigating the case.
