How Weekly Online Classes Could Help Cyberabad Beat Monsoon Traffic Jams
HYDERABAD: Cyberabad Police are considering asking schools to conduct online classes once a week during the monsoon season to ease traffic congestion across the city’s IT and residential corridors.
Speaking to Media, Cyberabad Police Commissioner Dr M Ramesh said officials will meet school managements next week to discuss the proposal. Under the plan, schools would hold online classes one day a week, preferably in the middle of the week.
“We are contemplating requesting schools in Cyberabad to conduct online classes once a week during this monsoon season. This will reduce traffic and help civic officials carry out their work more efficiently,” Dr Ramesh said.
If schools agree, students could attend about eight days of online classes during July and August. Regular classroom teaching would continue on all other days.
Traffic woes worsen during monsoon
Heavy rains, waterlogging and ongoing infrastructure works have increased traffic congestion across Cyberabad. Areas such as Hitec City, Gachibowli and the Financial District frequently witness long traffic snarls during peak hours.
Police officials believe that reducing school-related traffic for one day every week could ease pressure on major roads and improve vehicle movement during the rainy season.
Authorities push public transport use
The proposal forms part of a wider monsoon traffic management plan.
At a recent coordination meeting, Cyberabad Police met representatives of major IT companies, business parks and commercial establishments. Officials urged organisations to encourage employees to use company transport, Metro services and other public transport options.
Authorities said fewer private vehicles on the roads would help reduce congestion during heavy rainfall.
Road works could progress faster
Officials also expect lighter traffic to help civic agencies carry out road repairs, drainage works and other monsoon-related projects more efficiently.
Cyberabad Police will discuss the proposal with school managements in the coming days before taking a final decision on its implementation this monsoon season.
