Cyberabad police seize 2,560 ganja chocolates, arrest 1
Madhapur: The Cyberabad Special Operations Team (SOT) in Madhapur, along with the Petbasheerabad police, has successfully intercepted a trafficking operation involving ganja chocolates sourced from Punjab to Hyderabad. One drug peddler was arrested, and authorities seized 64 packets (12.68 kg) of ganja chocolates, totaling 2,560 chocolates, along with 80 grams of dry ganja and one cell phone. The total value of the seized items is Rs. 1,05,900.
The case has been registered at the Petbasheerabad Police Station under Cr. No. 1225/2024, U/s 8(c), R/W 20(b), (ii)(A) of the NDPS Act.
The accused has been identified as Tamk Issar Singh (55), a resident of Yellammabanda in Jagadgirigutta, Medchal Malkajgiri District, who has a prior history involving two cases at Jagathgirigutta and Jeedimetla police stations.
According to police investigations, Tamk Issar Singh’s family migrated to Telangana and initially settled in Suryapet, where they manufactured household items. After relocating to Gajularamaram a decade ago, Singh’s earnings became insufficient to support his family due to his substance abuse.
He procured the ganja chocolates from an unidentified drug peddler in Anandpur Sahib, Punjab, and sold them to construction labourers and others for Rs. 40 per packet. He confessed to purchasing 12.7 kg of ganja chocolates and 680 grams of dry ganja powder from an unknown person in Punjab.
The arrest was made at the Suchitra X Road Auto Stand based on credible information received by the SOT Madhapur team and Petbasheerabad police.
The efforts of the SOT Madhapur team and Petbasheerabad police were conducted under the supervision of Koti Reddy, DCP Medchal Zone; D. Srinivas, DCP SOT, Cyberabad; and the ADCP SOT 1.
