Cyberabad Police Intensify Hunt for Bandi Bhageerath
HYDERABAD: Cyberabad Police have intensified the search for Bandi Bhageerath, the accused in a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act case involving alleged sexual harassment of a minor.
Four teams conduct searches across multiple cities
Police said Bhageerath has been absconding since a case was registered against him under the POCSO Act on May 9. Officials issued notices twice asking him to appear for questioning, but he failed to respond.
A look-out notice has been issued against the accused. Police formed four special teams and launched searches in Hyderabad, Karimnagar and Delhi.
Police conduct searches at relatives’ residences
As part of the investigation, police also conducted searches at the residence of a Union minister in Hyderabad and at the house of Bhageerath’s father, officials said.
Pet Basheerabad police station officials issued notices to Bhageerath’s maternal uncle, Vamshi Krishna, who lives in Karimnagar, directing him to appear for questioning.
Police said the investigation is continuing from all angles and efforts are underway to trace and arrest the accused soon.
