Cyberabad police reunite child with parents within 24 hours of abduction

Hyderabad: Cyberabad police reunited the eight-month old boy with his parents within 24 hours after his abduction from a footpath in Fatehnagar in Hyderabad. Soon after receiving a complaint of a missing child, the police swung into action and apprehended the abductors after a dramatic 150-km chase across districts.

Satyanarayana Ram and Sunny Kumar Pandey, both natives of Bihar were arrested by the police on charges of child abduction. They were subsequently remanded in judicial custody. It is reported that Satyanarayana was childless and conspired to kidnap the child with the help of Sunny Kumar.

According to K Suresh Kumar, DCP, Balanagae zone, the family was living under a thatched roof near railway tracks. As usual they slept on the footpath with their son. They found their child was missing when they opened their eyes in the morning on February 23, 2025.

Suspecting the stray dogs might have taken their child, the family started searching nearby areas. When they did not find him anywhere, they lodged a complaint with the police. After receiving the complaint, the police officials examined the CCTV footage from the surrounding area and found two men were moving in a suspicious manner near the huts. As police spoke to the local residents and showed them the footage, one of them recognised Satyanarayana, one of the accused persons.

The police team went to Satyanarayana’s house but he was not there. Further inquiry revealed that he was on his way to Nizamabad. The authorities quickly launched a pursuit and intercepted the accused persons in a vehicle near the Indalwali toll plaza in Nizamabad. The police rescued the baby unharmed and handed him over to his parents.
