Cyberabad police recover 345 stolen mobiles in 30 days using CEIR portal

Hyderabad: Cyberabad Police announced on July 25, Thursday that their IT Cell and Social team successfully recovered 345 mobile devices in 30 days using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal under the supervision of DCP Crimes K. Narasimha.
The recovered mobile phones were handed over to their rightful owners during a meeting held at the Cyberabad Commissionerate Main Conference Hall by DCP Crimes K. Narasimha.
DCP Crimes K. Narasimha said that “Mobile phones are crucial in our daily lives, holding a lot of important information and memories. Thieves are relentless, so he advised police must be persistent in recovery efforts. Despite many people being educated, few know how to prevent stolen mobiles from being misused.”
DCP Crimes K. Narasimha urged the public to report lost mobile phone details on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP), the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal, or by dialing the National Helpline number 1930, which is accessible across all Indian states and union territories.
DCP Crimes appreciated ACP Crimes Kalinga Rao, IT Cell Inspector Jagadeeshwar, IT Cell team for their successful recovery of the mobile phones. The recipients of the recovered mobile phones expressed their happiness and gratitude.
Since its launch on April 19, 2023, the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal has enabled Telangana police to recover 30,049 lost or stolen mobile devices, propelling the state to the forefront of mobile phone recovery nationwide. Telangana leads with an impressive recovery rate of 33.71%, outshining Karnataka (32.02%) and Andhra Pradesh (32.01%). Telangana has reclaimed over 15,000 phones through the CEIR portal alone, underscoring its effective use of technology to combat mobile device theft and loss, setting a benchmark for law enforcement efforts in the country.
