Cyberabad Police announce mandatory online permission and safety rules for New Year 2026 celebrations in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Cyberabad police have made prior permission mandatory for all New Year 2026 celebrations within the commissionerate limits, citing crowd management, traffic safety and the need to curb drunk driving on December 31.

Online applications open till December 21

Officials noted that New Year celebrations typically gather momentum from the evening of December 31 and continue until midnight, with people taking to the streets, playing loud music and cutting cakes. Police said organisers and individuals planning gatherings, parties or commercial events must secure permission through cybpms.telangana.gov.in by December 21, 2025.

Applications must include venue details, expected footfall, parking arrangements and sound system specifications. Police will assess each application based on public safety norms and neighbourhood sensitivity.

Ticketed events must use commercial form

For ticketed programmes, organisers must select the commercial/ticketed category in the online system. Officials said organisers will also be required to comply with fire safety norms, CCTV coverage and availability of trained security personnel depending on the scale of the event.

Strict checks on sound levels, alcohol consumption

Police said that permissions will clearly specify time limits for music, maximum sound levels and crowd capacity. “Loud music beyond the permitted time and drunken driving will attract strict action,” an officer said.

Special teams will conduct checks near pubs, event venues and major junctions. Officials said enforcement will focus on controlling rash driving, triple-riding, overspeeding and public nuisance.

No applications accepted after deadline

Authorities reiterated that applications submitted after December 21 will not be considered. They urged organisers to apply early to avoid last-minute rejections, adding that permissions will not be issued offline.

“Applications received after the deadline will not be processed,” Cyberabad police said.

Police appeal for responsible celebrations

The commissionerate appealed to citizens to celebrate responsibly and avoid gatherings on main roads, flyovers and junctions. Officials said motorists should plan travel in advance as several stretches may experience congestion due to increased movement of crowds.
