Cyberabad police drug test 128 rowdy sheeters, 11 positive for ganja

HYDERABAD: Cyberabad Police conducted a special drug-testing drive on rowdy sheeters across the commissionerate on May 6, 2026, as part of efforts to curb substance abuse and maintain public safety.
The enforcement teams, along with Law and Order Police personnel, tested 128 rowdy sheeters during the drive. Of them, 11 tested positive for ganja consumption, while 117 tested negative.
According to the zone-wise data released by the police, Serilingampally zone recorded the highest number of positive cases. Of the 44 rowdy sheeters tested there, six tested positive. In Quthbullapur zone, four of the 59 tested positive, while one of the 25 tested in Kukatpally zone tested positive.
Police said legal action was being initiated against those who tested positive. Counselling and monitoring measures would also be undertaken wherever required.
Police warn of continued anti-drug enforcement
Cyberabad Police said such drives would continue regularly to deter substance abuse and maintain law and order in the commissionerate limits.
Police urged citizens to cooperate and share credible information related to drug trafficking and narcotics abuse.
