Cyberabad police nab 3 drug peddlers, seize hashish oil worth Rs. 12.9 lakhs

Hyderabad: In a significant operation on October 31, 2024, the Cyberabad Special Operations Team (SOT) and Balanagar Police apprehended three drug peddlers transporting Hashish oil from Jalaput, Odisha, to Hyderabad. The authorities seized 2.590 liters of Hashish oil valued at ₹12,95,000, a Pulsar bike worth ₹25,000, and three mobile phones totaling ₹30,000, adding the total value of the seized items to ₹13,50,000.

The case has been registered under the NDPS Act at Balanagar Police Station. The accused have been identified as Sapavath Suman (25), Ramavath Lalu (38), and Kethavath Vijay Kumar (32). One other individual, Kiran, is currently absconding.

Sapavath Suman, a resident of Devarakonda in Nalgonda District, has a prior criminal record involving drug-related offenses. While incarcerated at Visakhapatnam Jail in 2021, he met Kiran, who is also from Odisha. After his release, Suman conspired to engage in drug trafficking to earn quick money. He reached out to Kethavath Vijay Kumar, a known associate, who has a history of arrests in NDPS cases, to help find customers for their products.

On October 27, 2024, Suman and Lalu set off from Polepally village on Suman’s unregistered Pulsar bike, traveling approximately 1,000 kilometers to evade police checks and tolls. Kiran delivered 2.590 liters of Hashish oil to Suman in Paderu, Andhra Pradesh.

Following a plan orchestrated by Kethavath Vijay Kumar, Suman and Lalu arrived at Shobhana Bus Stop in Balanagar on October 31, 2024, in search of potential customers. They were apprehended by the SOT and Balanagar Police during this operation.

This operation was conducted under the leadership of D. Srinivas, DCP of SOT, Cyberabad, along with K. Suresh Kumar, DCP of Balanagar, T. Satyanarayana, Additional DCP of Balanagar, and G. Hanumanth Rao, ACP of Balanagar, among other officials.

DCP K. Suresh Kumar urged citizens to report any information related to the supply of dry ganja or Hashish oil by calling Dial 100 or the Cyberabad NDPS Enforcement Cell at 7901105423. Confidentiality for informants is assured
