31 women & 4 transgender individuals arrested in street prostitution operation at Kukatpally

Kukatpally: Cyberabad police carried out a joint operation to prevent street prostitution at the Bhagyanagar Bus Stop and under the KPHB Metro Station in Kukatpally on the night of October 23, 2024. The operation resulted in the apprehension of 31 women and four transgender individuals involved in street prostitution.
The operation was conducted by teams from the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU), SHE Teams, and Law & Order divisions of Kukatpally and KPHB Police Stations, under the supervision of DCP K. Suresh Kumar, IPS, of the Balanagar Zone.
In accordance with directives from senior officers, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) K. Srinivas Rao of Kukatpally Division established four special teams for the operation. These teams consisted of the ACP, three Inspectors, seven Sub-Inspectors, two Assistant Sub-Inspectors, and 36 Police Constables, totaling 49 personnel. As a result of their efforts, 31 women and four transgender individuals were apprehended. Four cases were registered at Kukatpally Police Station and one case at KPHB Police Station under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956.
The apprehended individuals are currently being presented before the Tahsildar of Kukatpally Mandal for a bind-over to ensure good behaviour. Once the bind-over procedure is completed, they will be released with notices issued under Section 35 of the BNSS Act.
Earlier this month, a similar operation conducted by the same special teams led to the apprehension of 22 individuals. Four cases were registered at Kukatpally Police Station and two at KPHB Police Station. The Mandal Revenue Officer (MRO) of Kukatpally also bound these individuals over for good behaviour before releasing them with notices under Section 35 of the BNSS Act.
PUBLIC NOTICE
The Assistant Commissioner of Police for Kukatpally Division, Cyberabad, issued a public notice stating, “The Cyberabad Police strictly enforce laws against prostitution and related activities. No form of prostitution is encouraged or tolerated within our jurisdiction. Regular operations are conducted to prevent and eliminate such illegal activities, ensuring the safety and security of all citizens. We urge the public to report suspicious or illegal activities to the nearest police station. Together, we can maintain a safe and law-abiding community.”
