Preventive detention invoked against Jagadgirigutta rowdy sheeter in Cyberabad

HYDERABAD: The Cyberabad police have invoked the Preventive Detention (PD) Act against Thanugundla Bala Showreddy, alias Badsha, a rowdy sheeter from Jagadgirigutta police station limits, citing repeated involvement in violent offences.
M. Ramesh, Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad, ordered the detention to prevent further criminal activity and maintain public order.
History of violent offences and repeated bail releases
Police said Bala Showreddy, 21, has been involved in serious crimes, including murder and attempts to murder, between 2023 and 2025. He allegedly attacked residents with knives and intimidated locals to assert dominance in the area.
Despite being arrested in multiple cases, he was released on bail each time and resumed criminal activities, police added.
Daylight murder at bus stop triggered detention action
On November 5, 2025, at about 16.00 IST, Bala Showreddy and his associates allegedly attacked Roshan Kumar Singh at the Jagadgirigutta bus stop. The victim was stabbed repeatedly in public and later died of injuries.
Police said the incident caused panic among residents and disrupted normal life in the locality.
Detention aimed at preventing further threats to public order
Authorities stated that the PD Act was invoked to prevent the accused from committing further offences, given his continued involvement in violent crimes despite legal action.
