Walk Free initiative opens up Cyberabad roads for citizens
HYDERABAD: The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) removed 290 encroachments across 14.1 km during its weekly Walk Free initiative, aimed at reclaiming roads, footpaths and public spaces for public use.
Drive conducted across all three CMC zones
The encroachment removal drive was carried out in Serilingampally, Kukatpally and Quthbullapur zones.
Serilingampally Zone accounted for 85 encroachments removed along a 4.7 km stretch. The drive covered Narsingi (33), Ameenpur (17), Miyapur (25) and Serilingampally (10).
Kukatpally Zone saw 55 encroachments removed over 3.1 km. The operation covered Madhapur (14), Allwyn Colony (14), Kukatpally (15) and Moosapet (12).
CMC to monitor reclaimed public spaces
Quthbullapur Zone recorded the highest number of removals, with 150 encroachments cleared across 6.3 km. The drive covered Chintal (14), Jeedimetla (24), Kompally (35), Gajularamaram (20), Nizampet (26), Dundigal (16) and Medchal (15).
The CMC said its teams will continue monitoring the cleared stretches to prevent re-encroachment and ensure reclaimed roads, footpaths and public spaces remain accessible to the public.
The civic body said the Walk Free initiative will continue across Cyberabad to improve pedestrian access and road safety.
