CMC Finds Major Food Safety Lapses at Miyapur Dhaba
HYDERABAD: Food Safety Officers of the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) uncovered multiple food safety and hygiene violations during an inspection at Santosh Dhaba 100% Pure Veg Exclusive near Miraj Theatre Lane in Miyapur.
During the inspection, officers found that the staff had not labelled semi-prepared food items. Food handlers also failed to wear hairnets, aprons and gloves. In addition, the exhaust fans and ceiling areas needed cleaning, while the store room lacked proper lighting. The management could not produce medical, pest control, water testing, food testing or packaging records.
Moreover, inspectors noticed broken side-wall tiles and found that the chiller was poorly maintained.
The outlet received a FoSCoS score of 55 out of 96 (58%). Consequently, officials said they would issue a notice directing the management to correct the deficiencies and improve food safety and hygiene standards.
Meanwhile, CMC Food Safety Officers also inspected Jaaju Kitchen & Bar in Madinaguda to evaluate compliance with food safety regulations.
During the inspection, officers observed that food handlers maintained good personal hygiene. They also verified that the restaurant had pest control, annual medical and water testing records. Furthermore, the staff had properly labelled semi-prepared food items.
However, officers found that the establishment did not maintain food testing and packaging records. They also noticed food waste in the drains and an open drain near the dishwashing area. In addition, the non-vegetarian chiller had a damaged gasket that required replacement. The dishwashing sink showed signs of water clogging, while the exhausts near the stoves and freezer needed cleaning.
Jaaju Kitchen & Bar secured a FoSCoS score of 82 out of 102 (80%).
Finally, officials instructed the management to fix the identified issues and continue maintaining the required food safety and hygiene standards.
