Cyberabad Police seize drugs worth ₹2.2 crore in three months; 209 arrested

HYDERABAD: Cyberabad Police seized narcotic substances worth ₹2.29 crore and arrested 209 people between January 1 and March 31, in an intensified crackdown under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Police registered 91 cases during the three-month period. Officials said the operations were intelligence-led and targeted both local peddlers and interstate drug networks.
91 cases registered; enforcement drive intensifies
A total of 209 accused were apprehended for drug possession, transport and distribution. The Enforcement and Law and Order wings carried out joint operations across Cyberabad.
Officials said the scale of arrests reflects sustained monitoring and coordinated action against drug trafficking.
Ganja accounts for bulk of seizures
Ganja formed the largest share of the seizures. Police recovered 333.159 kg in 62 cases, valued at over ₹1.62 crore.
Other substances seized include:
- MDMA: 105.144 grams (9 cases)
- Hashish oil: 4.311 litres (8 cases)
- Opium mixed powder: 3.5 kg (2 cases)
- Heroin/Morphine: 32.79 grams (3 cases)
- LSD papers: 33 units
- OG Kush: 76.01 grams
Police also seized ganja chocolates and plants in smaller quantities, indicating changing consumption patterns.
Focus on synthetic drugs and supply chains
Officials expressed concern over the rise in synthetic drugs such as MDMA and LSD. Investigations are underway to identify supply chains, including those operating through courier services and online platforms.
Cyberabad Police urged the public to share credible information on drug activity. Citizens can contact local police inspectors in Serilingampally, Kukatpally and Quthbullapur zones.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Operations Team) P Shoban Kumar said the department will continue strict enforcement.
“The Cyberabad Police are committed to curbing drug trafficking through coordinated and intelligence-based operations,” he said.
