Man held for abusive comment on actress’ Instagram reel in Cyberabad
HYDERABAD: Cybercrime Police in Cyberabad have apprehended a man for posting an abusive comment on a social media platform, officials said.
The accused, identified as Idadasu Apparao, a resident of Visakhapatnam, allegedly posted an offensive comment on an Instagram reel featuring actor Renu Desai using a fake account.
Accused used fake account to post offensive comment
Police said Apparao used to watch Instagram reels in his free time. During one such instance, he viewed a reel of the actor and posted an abusive comment through a fake profile created by him.
Based on the complaint and technical investigation, the Cybercrime Police identified and traced the accused to Visakhapatnam. He was apprehended there and brought to the Cyber Crime Police Station in Gachibowli.
Mobile phone seized during verification process
During verification, the accused produced the mobile phone used to post the comment. Police said further investigation is under way.
Public advised to follow responsible online conduct
Cyberabad Police issued an advisory urging social media users to maintain responsible online behaviour. Officials warned that posting abusive, defamatory or offensive content can invite legal action under relevant laws.
Citizens have been asked to report cyber offences to the nearest cyber crime police station or through the 1930 cyber helpline.
Police also advised users to rely on official communication channels for updates.
