Cyberabad Police Detect 9 Cybercrime Cases in One Week

CYBERABAD: Cybercrime Police, Cyberabad, detected nine cybercrime cases and arrested 12 accused across multiple states between January 30 and February 5, 2026, officials said on February 7.
Police said the investigations revealed a pan-India network, with offenders operating from different states and using varied fraud methods.
Trading fraud tops cases and arrests
Of the nine cases detected during the period, five related to trading fraud, leading to the arrest of seven accused.
Police also registered two job fraud cases, resulting in three arrests. One case each of part-time job fraud and matrimony fraud was detected, with one arrest made in each case.
Overall, nine cases led to 12 arrests during the week, police said.
₹1 crore refund orders secured
Cybercrime Police Station, Cyberabad, secured 406 refund orders in 58 cases from the court, amounting to ₹1,04,17,082, to be refunded to victims.
Job fraud case: Two arrested
In a major case during the week, police busted an online job fraud in which a woman job seeker was cheated of ₹20,80,007 on the promise of a software developer role in a reputed multinational company.
According to police, the accused impersonated a job portal, conducted a sham interview, and demanded money towards application, interview and processing charges. The victim was falsely told she had secured a job at Deloitte but was neither issued an appointment letter nor given a refund.
Police said the cheated amount was routed through multiple mule bank accounts.
Two accused from Delhi Purushottam Sharma and Kuldeep Kumar alias Sunil were arrested. Sunil allegedly supplied SIM cards and bank accounts on a commission basis, while Purushottam Sharma was identified as the main organiser.
Public advisory
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Cybercrimes) T. Sai Manohar advised job seekers to verify employers through official websites or human resources contacts and cautioned against paying any fees for job applications, interviews or appointments.
Victims of cyber fraud were urged to report cases immediately to 1930 or log complaints at www.cybercrime.gov.in.
